Beverley Waithaka joined the AACSA team in January 2020 as a Policy and Advocacy Intern. She graduated from San Jose State University, earning her B.S. in Public Health with a minor in African American Studies. Beverley has a passion and interest in addressing racial health inequities and creating better healthcare systems for vulnerable communities. Through her role at the AACSA, she has focused on supporting policy research on issues such as Black maternal and infant health, COVID-19’s impact on the Black community, and mental health services.
During her time at AACSA, she has served the community on campus as a member of various groups and organizations: Black Campus Ministries, Black Women’s Collective, the Black Spartan Advisory Council, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she was recognized for her work as San Jose State’s Sorority President of the Year.
